Effect of different methods of the integrated weed management on radiation use efficiency of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) and different species of weeds in Mashhad condition

In order to investigate the effect of different methods of integrated weed management on radiation use efficiency of sugar beet and different species of weeds, this experiment was conducted based on randomized complete block design with three replications in the Agricultural Research Station, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in 2010. Treatments included Metamitron Herbicide + Fenmedifam

Herbicide, Metamitron H. + Fenmedifam H.+Rotation, Metamitron H. + Cultivation, Metamitron H. + Cultivation + Rotation, Disc + Fenmedifam H., Disc + Fenmedifam H. + Rotation, Disc + Cultivation, Disc+ Cultivation + Rotation, Cover Crop + Cultivation, Cover Crop + Fenmedifam H., Fenmedifam H. + Weeding, Weeding and Control (without management). Samples were taken by Sun Scan instrument after plants emergence at fifteen days intervals. Results showed that the highest differences between leaf area of sugar beet and weeds in different treatments were seen using Weeding, Weeding+Fenmedifam H. and Disk+Fenmedifam H.+Rotation. The smallest differences were observed in control and Metamitron H. and Fenmedifam H. The maximum and minimum dry matter aggregation obtained in Weeding and control at 140 days after planting. Among different weed species, Barnyardgrass (

Echinochloa crus-galli), Red rootpigweed (Amaranthus retrofelexus), Black nightshade (Solanum nigrum) and Lambsquarters (Chenopodium album), had maximum relative leaf area. Based on regression penmanship gradient between acumulative absorbed light and dry matter values in growing season, the light use efficiency of sugar beet obtained 1.21g/mj. Among weeds, maximum light use efficiency was seen in Barnyardgrass (0.73 g/mj). The light use efficiency of sugar beet declined in control treatment (0.33 g/mj) but light use efficiency of Barnyardgrass increased (1.80 g/mj). The maximum and minimum light use efficiency of sugar beet was obtained in weeding and control treatments with 2.00 and 0.33 g/mj respectively.
