Introduction: Weeds are one of the most important factors that reduce wheat production in the Iran. According to the reports, the average weeds damage in the country's wheat fields is 23%.The application of herbicides due to their efficiency economic is one of the most important ways to control weeds. Repeated use of a herbicide or herbicides with a similar mode of action causes the formation of herbicide-resistant biotypes over time. Therefore, the mixing of herbicides or the use of dual-purpose herbicides increase the range of weed control, reduce product production costs, and soil compaction by reducing the number of spraying operations, the entry of chemicals into the environment, and delay the development of weed resistance to herbicides.
Material and methods: An experiment was conducted to evaluate dual herbicides effect and and mixing herbicides on control of weeds population and growth, components yield, seed yield and photosynthesis pigments characteractics of wheat in a randomized complete block design with three replications in growing season of 2017- 2018. Herbicides included Atlantis, Total, Atlantis+ Lintor, Apirous, Apirous+ Axial, Axial+ Bromicide M.A, Axial+ Lintor, and Topic+ Granstar. No herbicides application and hand weeding was kept as control tratments.
Results: Results of weeds population showed that the Avena loduviciana weeds had the highest density under non- application herbicides about 12.7 m2. Among herbicides, the highest control of the weeds was obtained in the treatments of Axial+ Bromicide M. A and Atlantis+ Lintor about 94.1 and 94.61% respectively in comparison with control. But mixture of Topic+ Granstar had the lowest control on thin and broad leaves about 54.69%. Among dual herbicides, the maximum and minimum control of weeds were found in Atlantis and Apirous respectively. In this study, mixing Lintor with Atlantis and Axial with Apirous had additive effect on weeds control. According to the results, the highest seed yield of wheat was obtained in the treatment of Atlantis+ Lintor, Axial+ Bromicide M.A and Total. On the other hand, application of these herbicides leads to better control of weeds. It indicates less adverse effect of these herbicides on wheat.
Conclusion: As the findings showed, Atlantis herbicides mixed with Lintor and Axial with Bromicide MA had the greatest controlling effect on broad and thin leaf weeds and subsequently the highest wheat yield per unit area. Also, herbicide of Lintor mixing with dual-purpose of Atlantis and Apirus with Axial has led to more appropriate control of weeds by consuming them individually. In general, this study showed that the combination of some studied herbicides had a synergistic effect in controlling weeds without having any negetive effect on the yield and yield components and photosynthetic pigments of wheat.
