Abstract:   (905 Views)
Introduction: Tomato is a model plant for many laboratory studies and a rich source of antioxidant compounds such as lycopene, phenolic compounds, and vitamins. The physio-morphological characteristics and yield of tomatoes are influenced by various factors, including nutrition.
Materials and methods: In this study, a randomized complete block design was used with three replications and four fertilizer treatments. These treatments consisted of Arghavan biofertilizer at a rate of 7.2 ml per 6 square meters, chemical fertilizer N-P-K (20-20-20) at a rate of 6 grams per 6 square meters, a combination of these two fertilizers at half the rate of each, and a control.
Results: The results demonstrated that the use of biofertilizer on tomato plants in field conditions significantly increased physical-morphological traits such as plant height, leaf relative humidity content, leaf chlorophyll index, number of fruits, fruit yield per plant, total chlorophyll, and carotenoids compared to the control. Additionally, the biofertilizer treatment yielded similar results to the chemical fertilizer treatment in traits like plant height, stem fresh and dry weight, root fresh and dry weight, relative humidity of leaf water, leaf carotenoid content, fruit length, single fruit weight, and fruit yield per plant.
Conclusion: Therefore, the combination of biological and chemical fertilizers led to an increase in both the quantity and quality of tomato plant yield, while reducing the consumption of chemical fertilizer N-P-K (20-20-20) by half. This approach represents a new step towards reducing environmental pollution and promoting sustainable agriculture.
