Abstract
Introduction: Organic materials are important component of soil which has significant effects on the elements availability and the improvement of physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the soil. The increase of medicinal plants use makes it necessary to carry out extensive researches on them for sustainable development. Therefore, a research was done to investigate the effect of different amounts of manure and elder compost on vegetative traits and yield of parsley.
Materials and Methods: This experimental was conducted in a factorial randomized complete design with three replications in Behshahr city during 2015. Treatments included manure fertilizer at four levels (0, 15, 30 and 45% V/V) and elder compost at four levels (0, 15, 30 and 45% V/V). The evaluated parameters were such as: stem height, stem diameter, fresh yield, dry yield, number of lateral branches, number of flower per plant and germination percent.
Results: Results showed that the interaction of manure and elder fertilizers ratio (45:45) had the greatest effect on the measured parameters. All parameters respond to manure fertilizer amount increasing, except germination percentage. Also, the effect of elder fertilizer on chlorophyll b and essence percent was more than using manure only.
Conclusion: The present study results showed that the quantitative characteristics and yield of parsley have been increased in combined application of organic fertilizers (manure and elder fertilizers). Therefore, the study of factors interactions indicates that using manure and elder fertilizers is recommended to improve chemical status of soil to increase growth characteristics of parsley.
