Effect of different concentrations of salt (NaCl), salicylic acid (SA) and gibberellic acid (GA3) on proline content and a, b chlorophylls of two cultivars of canola (Hayola 401 & RGS)

This research investigate the effects of different concentrations of salt: 0, 75, 100, 150 (mM NaCl) and concentration of 0.05 mM gibberellic acid and 5µM salicylic acid on the content of proline and a, b chlorophylls of Canola (Hayola 401 and RGS). The results showed that with increasing in the amount of salinity in both chlorophylls decreased and the amount of decrease in chlorophyll b was more rather than chlorophyll a. Chlorophylls content reduction was greater in RGS variety than Hayola. Applying SA on various salinity treatment caused a significant increase in a, b chlorophylls. The application of GA3 in 75 and 100 mM of NaCl caused a significant increasing in a, b chlorophylls, but in concentration of 150mM NaCl no increasing was occurred.. Using GA3 and SA together at (75 and 100 mM) concentrations of NaCl cause increasing of a, b chlorophylls, but at higher concentrations of NaCl it was not found any effect because of no impact of GA3. By examination the proline content, it was observed that salinity caused increasing the proline content of leaf and root. Applying SA and GA3 increased content of proline at three concentrations of NaCl. With applying SA and GA3 simultaneously the proline content at 75 and 100mM concentrations NaCl was increased. It is could be concluded that Hayola was more tolerant to salinity stress, compared with RGS.
