Study of qualitative and quantitative characteristics of soybean in response to soil and foliar application of iron under drought stress conditions
Abstract:   (4689 Views)

To study the effect of soil and foliar application of Fe-EDDHA on the yield and yield components of soybean L17 variety under water deficit conditions, an experiment was conducted in a split-plot based on randomized complete blocks design with four replications in research farm of Islamic Azad University at Khorramabad in 2015. Main plots consisted of two levels of irrigations including full irrigation (irrigation after reaching to 50% soil moisture depletion of field capacity) and no irrigation after flowering stage (irrigation after reaching to 75% soil moisture depletion of field capacity). Sub-plots were eight levels of Fe-EDDHA, that four levels of it were soil application (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg/ha of Fe- EDDHA) and four levels were foliar application (foliar application of water and 2, 4, 6 mg/kg of Fe-EDDHA). Results showed that soil application under drought stress condition increased measured characteristics. Drought stress reduced the seed protein and seed oil. The highest of measured characteristics in full irrigation was observed in soil application (150 kg/ha of Fe-EDDHA). The effects of drought and Fe-EDDHA on seed yield and protein percentage were the significant. The highest seed yield (3012.25 kg/ha) and protein percentage (34.54%) in drought stress were observed in soil application 150 and 100 kg/ha of Fe-EDDHA, respectively. In conclusion, the application of Fe-EDDHA was more suitable than foliar application, and thus it could partially reduce the harmful effects of drought stress and led to improved seed yield and protein percentage of soybean under drought stress condition.
